A young, progressive, kind elder wants to have a chat with me on Sunday after the meeting. Just him and me. We've talked before and been quite open about the judgemental attitudes 'we' have as witnesses, and he was completely in agreement, stating that he's never understood the beard thing among other issues, and wants to see the society moving forward by change.. I've no doubt he just wants to encourage me to up my hours or reach out again, but it's nerve wracking, as I know I'll say something I'll regret. I don't mind explaining that I've got issues with a doctrine or two but that I'm talking with another elder about these issues (true too, a story for another thread) just to get him off my back, so he knows there IS an issue but it's being sorted. If he asks what doctrines, I'll politely decline, but he's a good chap, in one of his answers recently he pointed out the difference between one who doubts and one who is an apostate, and he's known for his love. Mind you, he's also known for having pet projects. Maybe I should just nod, agree, and keep me stoopid mouth SHUT! Anyways, just an update, (like ds211) let's hope our meetings go OK....

To the gullible jw who beleive (worship) the GB
by bobld inin this weeks wt study p20 para 17 the gb directive in part says "all of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not".
it behooves me,how anyone would obey such an organization, when you were told to preach and exhort people with a message(bible doctrine) for over a hundred years(and not question the message or the gb) only to find out the message was false.see wt july 15,2013 p8.-great tribulation did not begin in 1914.judgement of the sheep and goats did not begin in 1914.jesus arrival to appoint the faithful slave did not occur in 1919.wt 1984,1914 the generation that will not pass away.. in your clean christian conscience are you willing to obey such a vacillating organization.the proper thing to do is resign from this organization.
go apolize to the people for misleading them with a false message(doctrine).go preach the true gospel of jesus christ..

Woah bu2b, my wife came out with EXACTLY the same point about the israelites at pihahiroth.... I said it was a bit different with the clear divine leading of the pillar of cloud/fire compared to the non miraculous leading of the 8 stooges. Well, I didn't say stooges, but I thought it.

I may not be able to hold the status quo for longer!
by ILoveTTATT intoday my mom called me three times at work to tell me how "worried" she was about my spirituality.. i so wanted to tell her some ttatt but just said, "mom, i am fine spiritually.
if i am ever in trouble spiritually, i will tell you.
meanwhile, i would really appreciate it if you left my relationship with god a private matter.".

Ray Franz
by thedog1 inam reading coc at the moment, about half way through.
just finished reading some of the details of what happened in malawi and mexico years ago.
which reminded me that in the early 80's a very well known elder in the country i was then living in went to new york as he had discovered all the discrepencies between what had happened in malawi and in mexico and wanted to know what the gb had to say about it.

Bumping this thread in case thedog1 hasn't seen this last question, I'd be interested in doctrinal differences of opinion too....
